136th AIRLIFT WING
DEPLOYMENTS & RETURNS
Several members of the FWAPC were on hand to send off over 60 members of the 136th Airlift Wing of the Texas Air National Guard as they deployed over a two-day period in late October to the Middle East.
Several members of the FWAPC try to be on hand for each of these deployments to show our support for these troops as they are sent in harm’s way. The appreciation we receive from the troops and their commanders for our being there is very gratifying.
We show our thanks by our presence, handing out of FWAPC coins and, when possible, free calling cards as the troops depart. As you witness their goodbyes to their families’ one realizes just how significantly these departures affect those staying behind. We are so fortunate to have these fine men and women who willingly go forth to protect your and my freedom.
AND…..
….then there’s always a brighter side to the deployment picture, and that’s when deployed troops return home. That was the case that same week when dozen’s of previously deployed members of the 136th returned from duty in the Middle East. Families were on hand to greet their loved ones, and the joy and excitement was a pleasure to witness. Your FWAPC members were on hand to welcome home these brave troops, thank them one by one for their sacrifice and present a token of our appreciation; our new Council/Foundation coin.
