Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial
The PGA returned to Fort Worth and your FWAPC was on hand to “Meet & Greet” our troops at this event.
Thanks to the generosity of XTO Energy, we once again were able to host our military guests at the chalet on the 17th fairway, and Tami Coon did her usual great job of decorating the chalet “to the nines.”
Plenty of beverages, (courtesy of Miller Beer) and snacks available, and, thanks to Hawk Electronics, a Wii machine which got a heavy work out, and phones for use by the troops to call free anywhere in the world.
There was no shortage of visitors or FWAPC hosts to greet them. The outside deck was a great spot to sit and watch the golfers go by while having a beverage or two and listening to the tall tales being spun by your fellow members to the young troops.
If your legs held out, a walk to Kip Hyde’s Hawk Electronics sponsored skybox on 13 was a great spot to watch ‘hole-in-one’ attempts (Yep! We saw one), enjoy great food and watch the “caddie races”.
A great five-day event and even more so when you realize that FWAPC chairman, Jim Thomason, was able to present 2,500 free tickets to our troops from NAS/JRB and Fort Hood.
These photos were taken well before the chalet was packed with troops on Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks to all of the FWAPC members who volunteered to host our troops at this PGA event.
