“NEITHER RAIN NOR"… WELL, MAYBE A BIT.

Mother Nature played a role in holding down attendance, but not enthusiasm for the Air Power Demonstration at NAS/JRB on May 16, 2009. The performance did get off the ground and the fast work of the ground crews moving the outdoor to indoor and back again to outdoor static display kept it all going smoothly.

The ‘Skipper”, Capt. T.D. Smyers, a close friend of FWAPC, ensured that all FWAPC guests were well fed and watered as they watched the performance of military aircraft of all types. There were fighters, bombers, (yep, they even brought in that ‘Big Ole’ B-52 for all to see) cargo carriers and helicopters, as well as that special AAL “Flagship Freedom” aircraft on static display.

Through the magic that only our military can perform, the sky cleared long enough for a slightly delayed start, but a great afternoon of enjoyment for all attending.

PS. We were assured that the twin-engine prop plane marked “United States Navy” is not the Skipper’s private weekend get-away vehicle. It’s more likely a “Stealth” USN combination fighter, bomber and cargo plane-well disguised.
