“MEET & GREET”

“Leave it to the Newbie”… At a recent  FWAPC Board meeting one of our newest Advisory Committee members,  Cliff Johnson, suggested that we consider a “Meet & Greet” forum where our newest members could meet the Board members of the FWAPC and FWAPF in an effort to get acquainted and hopefully motivate new members to become involved in Council activities. Cliff not only came up with the idea, but also agreed to coordinate the event.

Not only was that a hit with the Board, but it was agreed that we should also invite our past chairmen, NAS/JRB major command officers and XO’s as well. After all, these are the folk with whom our board works so closely, and we knew they would play a big part in motivating our new members to become involved in base activities and learn about their needs. They also begin to understand just how much our local military appreciate all that we do.

Our newest 20 members and 21 base military were invited to the session at Colonial. The event was a total success. We owe Cliff a debt of thanks for the idea and follow through. We also recognize that this should not be the last of such events.

Word of Council/Foundation activities has spread to the point where we have full membership and a waiting list. The Board is seeking “doer’s” when considering applications from sponsors of prospective members.
