Dinner reception for Gordon England and his wife Dorothy
FWAPC members, Military guests and dignitaries filled the chapel at Joe T's to welcome back our Fort Worth hero, Gordon England, former Deputy Secretary of Defense. Among those to Greet Gordon were Congresswoman Kay Granger of Texas, and Roger Williams, former Secretary of the State of Texas.
To say we ‘packed the house’ would be an understatement. We made it to “Overflow” with the number of FWAPC members, Military and dignitary guests. The “La Puertita" Room at Joe T’s provided their usual fine fare as guests and honorees mingled and photographers were snapping shots throughout the evening.
Our Mike Snyder did the honors of introducing the many distinguished Military guests, our special guests, Secretary Gordon and Dorothy England , as well Congresswoman Kay Granger and Roger Williams. Mike presented Ms. Granger with an award from the Foundation in recognition of her service to her district, to our Military, and for her work with Gordon England to ensure that the next U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ship will be christened the “USS Fort Worth.”
Secretary England, a former FWAPC member, was presented with a plaque honoring his service to our country on behalf of a grateful Airpower organization. As Secretary England spoke of his service as the former Secretary of the Navy, and Deputy Secretary of Defense, he was clear in reminding us that our nation still faces a very determined enemy who knows no rules, has but one ambition, and that is to destroy us all that we believe in. A powerful reminder that our struggles are far from over.
Our thanks for producing this event go to FWAPC Board members Will Courtney and Roman Palomares who worked so hard to make this a success.
